  • My mission is to serve the residents of Precinct 3 and El Paso County in an honest, dedicated and forthright manner. I intend to bring dignity and pragmatism through honest and transparent communication to the constituents of Precinct 3 and to the County of El Paso.
  • Biography

  • Commissioner Tania Chozet was sworn in on March 5, 2012, and will serve until December 31, 2012. Tania is an El Paso native and a product of local public school education. She attended Pasodale Elementary from kindergarten through eighth grade and graduated as valedictorian of Ysleta High School in 1994. Tania attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, were she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1998.

  • After college, Tania worked for a software start-up company, Microstrategy, Inc., in Vienna, Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C., until January 2001. From there, Tania moved to San Francisco, California, to begin a job in the Information technology department of Gap, Inc. During her time with Gap, Inc., the parent company to Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy clothing companies, she worked on and managed a multi-million dollar reporting system for trend analysis and reporting for sales, inventory, and planning. While there, she earned a rating in the top 5% of corporate employees in 2004. After leaving Gap, Inc., for law school, Tania took a five month consulting position with the travel search engine Sidestep.com, now owned by Kayak, where she designed a reporting system for finances and web traffic.

  • While attending law school, Tania volunteered with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in 2006 and interned with the California Attorney General and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, in 2008. In May 2009, she received her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. She returned to her Lower Valley home in El Paso after graduation. In the Fall of 2010, Tania served as team lead on a field campaign against the SB1070 anti-immigration bill in Arizona through the Center for Community Change and Promise Arizona. Tania then served as a policy advocate for the ACLU of New Mexico’s Regional Center for Border Rights in Las Cruces, New Mexico, until she was appointed County Commissioner for Precinct 3 in March 2012.

  • She is a current member of the State Bar of New Mexico, former board member for the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Advisory Board, is a native Spanish speaker, and has basic speaking skills in Mandarin Chinese.
