On Wednesday January 18, 2012, County Commissioner Sergio Lewis held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the unveiling of the new fleet of golf carts for Ascarate Golf Course. This is one of the most recent of several improvements for Ascarate Park.

– El Paso Texanos Senior Baseball Team (November 2011):
The El Paso Texanos Senior Baseball Team plays out of Ascarate Park and participated and ended as Champions in the 2011 Mens Senior Baseball League World Championship tournament in Phoenix, AZ. They were recognized in Commissioners Court on November 28, 2011 for their representation of El Paso in this tournament.

– Repaving of the Golf Cart Paths at Ascarate Golf Course (October 2011):
With the assistance of the El Paso County Road and Bridge department golf cart paths at Ascarate Golf Course have been repaved.

– Reconstruction of Outdoor Pavilion at Ascarate Park (October 2011):
The progress of the reconstruction of the outdoor pavilion at Ascarate Park set to be finalized in February 2012. Future plans are to rent this facility out to the public.

– Lower Dyer Neighborhood Association (July 2011):
County Commissioner Sergio Lewis presented a resolution recognizing July 11, 2011 as "Lower Dyer Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area Youth Day". Children from the area sat and visited with Commissioner Lewis.

In April 2011 County Commissioner Sergio Lewis attended a ground breaking ceremony for the new Youth Services Center located at 6400 Delta Dr. and to be completed by March 2012.
