(El Paso, TX)—In an effort to preserve the safety and well-being of the east county residents, the members of Commissioners Court unanimously approved the closing of several streets in the Montana Vista area during the upcoming 4^th of July celebration.The decision came after several residents voiced their opinion before the court and described their yearly ordeal due to the indiscriminating use of fireworks and excess of traffic and trash left after the Independence Day celebration.The street closures will start at 7:00 a.m. to midnight.The Sheriff’s Office will install barricades in the following streets: Flager St, Suwanee St., Vista del Este St., Las Casitas Ave., Krag St., Buntline Dr., Desert Meadows Rd., Oshea Dr., Acacia Dr., Century Dr., Edward Williams Dr., Snoqualmie Dr., and Oleary Dr. All streets are connected to Far East Montana Avenue and lead into residential areas that are affected by hazardous and unsafe conditions due to Independence Day high volume of pedestrians and/or vehicle traffic.Commissioner Willie Gandara, who represents the area before the court, was pleased with the court’s decision.
