About 1,000 pounds of trash is dumped near a Northeast El Paso middle school. El Paso Police Detectives and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality are seeking the public’s help in finding those responsible, making this the
Crime Stoppers “Crime of the Week.”
Shortly after 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 10th, 2012, an employee with the City of El Paso discovered a large amount of debris that had been dumped at the 4700 block of Loma Real. Investigators learned that an employee at Nolan Richardson Middle School had observed a white truck with a black flatbed dump the debris. Investigators observed 600-700 square feet of trash just north of the school. The trash contained a black sofa, white ladder, trash bags, and old wood.
Illegal dumping in vacant lots and desert areas is an epidemic in El Paso. The City of El Paso Street Department and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality finds and cleans up many tons of junk and debris from every part of the city throughout the year. Some is construction waste, some is yard clippings, and some is just garbage. This debris not only makes our landscape ugly, it costs taxpayers many thousands of dollars to clean up.
