UPDATE: ELPASO COUNTY TEXAS-Sunday, 07-22-12, at approximately 3:15 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Santiesteban Ln. and John Henry St. (Montana Vista area), El Paso County Texas, in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived along with Life Ambulance to find (5) occupants inside a tan Chevy Impala with no signs of life.
The driver of the Ford truck, Alberto Coronado, was placed under arrest yesterday afternoon and was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol by Sheriff’s Deputies. Coronado struck the Chevy Impala after disregarding a stop sign and is facing(5) counts of Intoxication Manslaughter. Coronado is currently booked on 2-counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with a bond of $750,000 each and will be booked on the remaining 3-counts at $100,000 each.
Amongst the deceased of the Chevy Impala was Humberto Ignacio Alferez (63), Aurora Sombra (52), Jassmine Alferez (18), 11 year old Demarco Esteban Morales, and 12 year old Brenda Raquel Morales.
The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance for any information regarding a bystander who lent a cell phone to the driver of the Ford truck at the time of the accident who may be a possible witness in this case.
