ELPASO COUNTY TEXAS-Sunday, 07-22-12, at approximately 3:15 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Santiesteban Ln. and John Henry St. (Montana Vista area), El Paso County Texas, in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived along with Life Ambulance to find (5) occupants inside a tan Chevy Impala with no signs of life. Montana Vista Fire Fighters (1st-Responders) arrived with several rescue units. Border Patrol Units arrived (4) and assisted with securing the scene by providing crowd and traffic control.
Special Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene. Further investigation revealed the driver of a white Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on Santiesteban Ln. when it disregarded a stop sign and struck the Chevy Impala, who was traveling south on John Henry St., leaving two adults and three youth dead. The Ford pick-up truck was found on its roof top after it struck the right side of the Impala. The driver of the truck was identified as 23 year old Alberto Coronado from the Montana Vista area. Coronado was charged with 5-COUNTS of INTOXICATION MANSLAUGHTER.
Speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this case. Notification of the next of kin is still pending. The investigation continues.
