UPDATE-SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO TWO EARLY MORNING ROBBERIES IN THE LOWERVALLEY

image_thumb5_thumbEL PASO COUNTY TEXAS-Early this morning at approximately 6:30 AM, El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 14421 Montana Ave. (Quick Silver 66/ convenience store), El Paso County, TX, in reference to an aggravated robbery. Six minutes later, Deputies were then dispatched to 13900 Montana Ave. (Exxon-Ram/ convenience store) in reference to an Aggravated Robbery in progress. A preliminary investigation revealed a male subject entered both locations, minutes apart.

Deputies received information that the male subject fled in a white Hyundai, unknown direction of travel, and was last seen wearing a white cap, grey shirt and blue jeans. The male subject is said to have first entered the Quick Silver 66 store and handed a note to the clerk, possibly demanding money. The second robbery, minutes later at the Exxon-Ram store, the same occurred in which a male subject also entered the store and handed a note to the clerk. The subject made way with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the second robbery.

It is unknown at this time why the subject who entered the first store was unsuccessful. No injuries were reported in each separate incident as a result of the robberies. EPCSO/Crimes against persons Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians were summoned to the scene. Both incidents were turned over to EPCSO-CAP/Detectives.    

UPDATE: On 07/05/2012 at 1:45 PM CAP/Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the individual believed to be responsible for the aggravated robberies that occurred at two Montana Vista convenience stores. Detectives, along with Deputies from the Eastside Montana Patrol Station, proceeded to the 14000 Block of Seattle Slew, El Paso County Texas, where the suspect was known to have last been residing. 

Detectives and Deputies made contact with the residents and a subsequent search of the residence lead to the suspect’s apprehension. The suspect, identified as Roy Rene Villareal, was found hiding inside a closet and became a further threat to Officers as he refused to cooperate and was tased as a result. VILLAREAL was placed under arrest on two counts of AGGRAVATED ROBBERY. VILLAREAL was also transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for what appeared to be an anxiety attack.
