SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO MVA-ROLLOVER & ARREST DRIVER FOR DWI WITH CHILD UNDER 15 YOA

ELPASO COUNTY TEXAS-On Saturday evening, 06-30-12 at approximately 8:00 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident (MVA-roll over) on Trans Mountain Road (reference point 19) in El Paso County Texas. Deputies arrived to find the driver, PEDRO CHAVEZ of the 9200 block of Roanoke, El Paso, Texas, and his 9 year old son outside a white 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck which was on its roof top on the outside shoulder. The El Paso Fire Department/Rescue 23 and Pumper #21 were on scene and evaluated all parties.

After an interview with the driver by Deputies, it was determined that CHAVEZ was operating the said vehicle found on scene while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The child was released to a responsible party and CHAVEZ was transported to the West Side Regional Commander Center where CHAVEZ submitted to a breath sample with breath alcohol content results of .10. CHAVEZ was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with Child under 15 years of age. CHAVEZ was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. CHAVEZ and his son were returning from Wet-N-Wild Waterworld, 8804 S. Desert, Anthony, Texas, prior to the accident.
