EL PASO COUNTY TEXAS-On 06-24-12 at approximately 10:20 PM, a Sheriff’s Deputy (K-9 Unit) saw a white Nissan Altima who failed to drive in a single lane and continued to swerve on the roadway. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the said vehicle at the 3800 block of Zaragoza, El Paso County Texas. Despite the Sheriff’s Deputy attempt to stop the Altima using its air horn and siren, the driver refused to stop. The Deputy saw the driver pull onto the shoulder portion of the roadway but did so only to have accelerated at a high rate of speed.

The suspect/driver of the Altima led the Deputy eastbound on Montana Ave., north on flagger and eastbound onto Apache Rd. where the driver then exited while the vehicle was still in motion and fled on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued with the suspect being tased as a result of his demeanor and perceived threat by the Deputy.  The driver was suspected of driving while intoxicated. The Altima came to a stop after it collided with a pick-up truck and other property located on a residence the suspect apparently drove into. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen out of the El Paso Police Department.

The suspect was placed under arrest for Evading Arrest & Detention, Driving While Intoxicated and Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle.
