TRAFFIC STOP BY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY RESULTS IN A VEHICLE PURSUIT IN THE LOWERVALLEY

EL PASO COUNTY TEXAS-On 06-16-12 at approximately 4:20 PM, a Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area of 5000 Hueco Tanks saw a red Volkswagen traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled over and stopped. As the Deputy was advising Sheriff’s Office Communication Section of the said traffic from his vehicle, the driver/offender of the Volkswagen fled continuing southbound on Hueco Tanks towards Montana Ave. Other Sheriff Patrol units were called to assist.
As the driver/offender turned right onto Montana Ave., heading west, he drove over the tire deflation device/spikes that was set up by assisting Deputies. The driver of the vehicle led Sheriff’s Deputies in a 13.3 mile chase for approximately 10 minutes. The driver/offender came to a rest at the 12700 block of Lorenzo Frias, El Paso County Texas.
The driver/offender was arrested for EVADING ARREST AND DETENTION W/VEHICLE and POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA U/2 0Z. The Offender was identified as 24 year old PATRICK JAMES TERRY from the 7900 block of Dogwood, El Paso Texas. OFFENDER/TERRY also had an outstanding warrant for Resisting Arrest out of Florida. There were no injuries or property damage as a result of the chase.
