About 1:20 A.M. on the early morning of Thursday, April 19th, 2012, officers from the Police Department’s Northeast Regional Command were dispatched to a 7-11 convenience store at 8901 Diana in reference to an aggravated robbery. Their investigation revealed that a male suspect, dressed completely in black, had robbed the store at gunpoint. The gunman told the clerk he wanted “all Newport cigarettes” placed in a plastic bag that he provided. Then he asked for money from the cash register. When he left the store, the suspect walked up Alps Street towards Dyer.
The suspect is described as an unknown male wearing a black jacket, black t-shirt pulled over his nose, and a black beanie. Officers with K-9 assistance were able to follow the suspect for a while but were unable to locate and identify him.
