DEPUTY-BADGE_thumb2El PASO COUNTY TEXAS/UPPERVALLEY-Early Tuesday morning on 05-01-2012 at approximately 1:20 am while patrolling the Westway area in Canutillo, El Paso County Texas, a Sheriff’s Deputy saw a blue Saturn wagon disregard a stop sign at the intersection of DeAlva Dr. and Tiffany Rd. A traffic stop was initiated by the Deputy as the overhead emergency lights from the patrol unit were activated. The driver of the Saturn continued to drive and turned off its headlamps as a means to elude the Deputy as he drove through residential streets in the area. When the vehicle came to a stop at one point, he sped off as the Deputy made an approach. After eluding the Deputy once again, the vehicle finally came to a stop at the 800 block of Southwood Rd. where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot running through houses in the neighborhood.  After an intense search of the area by Sheriff’s Deputies the subject was tracked at his residence and taken into custody. He was identified as Felix Banuelos from the 700 block of Tiffany.

When the Deputy illuminated the vehicle with the spot light, the driver sped off. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle by activating the patrol unit’s overhead emergency lights but the vehicle continued eastbound and refused to stop. The vehicle accelerated and began driving erratically eluding the Deputy. The driver of the vehicle lead Sheriff’s Deputies through several residential streets and was seen tossing items out of the window. After an approximate 13 minute chase, the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Montwood and Joe Battle South.
