El PASO COUNTY TEXAS- On 04-27-12 at approximately 4:00 pm Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Spartan Rd., Canutillo in El Paso County Texas, in reference to a mobile home on fire. Upon arrival Deputies saw a mobile home engulfed in flames with the possibility of an adjacent mobile home also catching on fire. Due to the wind and heavy smoke directed eastbound, resident(s) across the street were evacuated from their home. West Valley Fire Department was on scene (15 volunteers with 2-pumper trucks and 2-rescue trucks) and contained the fire within approximately 20 min. Because of the fire hydrants in the area an ample water supply was able to keep the fire from spreading.
The renter of the mobile home engulfed in flames stated no one was inside the home at the time of the fire except a canine and four puppies which were not yet accounted for on the scene. The adjacent home was not occupied, however, sustained radiant heat damage. The homeowners have yet to be contacted. The owner/landlord stated to Sheriff’s Deputies he was not insured for the loss and estimated the damage at an approximate $10,000. The renter estimated a loss of an approximate $4,000. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. A Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene. The investigation continues. There were no injuries reported.
