POLICE SEEK INFORMATION ABOUT A BURGLARY OF BUILDING
Suspects break into a church in the central part of town to steal money and cause thousands of dollars in damage, , making this the
Crime Stoppers “Crime of the Week.”
Between the hours of 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, Feb. 9th, 2012, and 8:00 A.M. the next
morning, the unknown suspects removed security bars and broke through a window from the alley behind Unity El Paso at 1420 Alabama. Once inside the sanctuary, they kicked in a door to the office and pried open a safe, taking cash and checks. They also broke into the bookstore where they took money from the cash register and ransacked the building, causing more than $5,000 in damages.
Several days later, some of the items taken from the church were found in a nearby backyard; and investigators are hoping that residents in the area may have noticed suspicious persons or vehicles moving through the alley on that night.
