SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO A STRUCTURE FIRE

EL PASO, TEXAS- Monday, 01-23-2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 11090 Gateway East (Magic Landing) reference to a structure fire. Deputies arrived and secured the scene while the Socorro, and Horizon Fire Departments extinguished an abandoned building that was fully engulfed. The Fire Chief from Socorro arrived and conducted a preliminary investigation which led the Fire Chief to believe the fire was intentionally set by unknown suspects. No injuries were reported.
Additional Information: Research of the listed address revealed that within the past 4 years, there have been 9 structure fires on the property. No suspects have been found and although these incidents were ruled arsons, it is not suspected that only one person is responsible. There are homeless people that frequent the area and have used this property for shelter.
