SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES APPREHEND SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN BURGLARY OF HABITATION

EL PASO, TEXAS- On Thursday, 01/12/2012 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 19000 block of Alameda Ave., Tornillo, in El Paso County, Texas in reference to a burglary of habitation. Upon arrival, Deputies learned two suspects wearing black hoodies and blue bandanas had forced their way into the said residence. According to the victims inside the residence, the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money.
The suspects left with an undisclosed amount of money from the victims and fled in a dark in color Honda. Several Sheriff’s Deputies canvassed the area in search of the two suspects. At approximately 1:00 a.m., Deputies noticed a vehicle matching the description; disregard a stop sign at the intersection of N.W. 3rd and Guadalupe in Fabens, Texas. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the passenger car (Honda), and upon approach of the vehicle, noticed the occupants had blue bandanas and a handgun in the vehicle. All occupants were detained and the Criminal Investigations Bureau was summoned to the scene.
A further investigation revealed the occupants were also in possession of a large amount of cash. Two juveniles and one adult suspect were taken into custody and charged with burglary of habitation. It was later determined one of the juveniles was involved in two previous criminal offenses (Aggravated Robbery & Assault Causes Bodily Injury).
Both Juveniles (16 years of age) were referred to the Juvenile Probation Department. The adult suspect, identified as George Martinez (17), was additionally charged with possession of marijuana under 2 ounces and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
