LOWER VALLEY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO A STRUCTURE FIRE

EL PASO, TX- Tuesday, 12-06-11 at approximately 12:15 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 5700 block of Mountain Sun in El Paso County, Tx in reference to a structure fire.
Upon arrival Deputies made contact with family members standing outside of the home. An additional family member, who was attempting to extinguish the fire with a water hose inside of the home, was evacuated by a Sheriff’s Deputy. Montana Vista Fire Department was on scene. According to the homeowner, smoke was detected inside of the home at approximately 11:00 AM. The homeowner said they are not insured for their loss and estimated the damage to be approximately $80,000. Red Cross services were offered to the family, however, they will be staying with other family members.
A Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene for further investigation to determine the cause of the fire. A preliminary investigation indicated that family members used the fire place earlier and were not sure if it was entirely extinguished. There were no arrests on scene. The fire took approximately 45 minutes to extinguish and no other residents in the immediate area were evacuated from the their homes. No one was injured.
