TWO VEHICLES COLLIDE IN UPPERVALLEY- 1 ARRESTED & 1 AIRLIFTED TO LOCAL AREA HOSPITAL

EL PASO, TX-Saturday, on 11/19/2011 at approximately 3:50 PM Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the approximate 7800 block of Doniphan Dr., El Paso County, TX, in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles with a possible DWI driver.
Upon arrival, Deputies came in contact with a black Honda Accord occupied by two males and a brown Ford Explorer occupied by a female and child. Both vehicles had front end damage.
West Valley Fire Department/First Responders and Life Ambulance arrived on scene. Shortly after, Medi-Vac was requested to air-lift the male passenger of the Honda Accord to a local area hospital for possible serious internal injuries. Deputies smelled a strong odor of an unknown alcohol beverage emitting from the driver’s breath and noticed he also had slurred speech and blood shot eyes. The driver was taken into custody and charged with INTOXICATION ASSAULT WITH A VEHICLE-SBI.
A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Doniphan Dr. and the Ford Explorer was traveling on the inside lane southbound on Doniphan Dr. when the driver of the Honda Accord collided with the Ford Explorer, in the center of the roadway, driven by a 31 year old female who had her 10 year old daughter in the vehicle. The driver of the Ford Explorer was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The child was treated on seen, however, did not sustain major injuries.The driver of the Honda Accord refused treatment on scene, however, was later treated for lacerations sustained to his left hand at local area hospital.
According to a witnesses, the driver of the Honda Accord was seen swerving on the roadway when it drove onto the southbound lanes of travel. The driver of the Ford Explorer swerved in an evasive manner to the opposite lane of travel to avoid being struck by the Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda Accord was seen driven by a male who was later identified as 49 year old Juan Murillo. The passenger was also a 49 year old male. Subject/JUAN MURILLO was charged with Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle-SBI and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $350.00.
