EL PASO, TX- On Wednesday, 11-09-11 at approximately 6:00 PM, El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 4999 Hueco Tanks (Hueco Tanks State Park), located approximately 32 miles northeast of El Paso in El Paso County, in reference to four hikers that were stranded on the mountains approximately 80 feet in altitude.

Two park rangers on scene began to hike the mountain in an effort to make contact with the subjects. The subjects were located and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office/Search and Rescue Team assisted upon arrival with the descent of the subjects.  Montana Vista Fire Department and Life Ambulance were on scene. A United Stated Border Patrol helicopter was also summoned to the scene and assisted with illuminating the area.

The four hikers were climbing when they lost track of time and could not find their way back after sunset.The hikers were rescued from the steep cliff to safety with no further incident. No injuries were reported. 

The hikers involved were two males (31 & 20 years of age) and two females (20 years of age).
