DEPUTY BADGE WHTEl Paso, TX- On Saturday morning, 09-24-2011 at approximately 7:00 AM Deputies were dispatched to the 800 block of Coach Rd. (Westway), El Paso County Texas, in reference to and Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries. Upon arrival Deputies saw a damaged black 2004 Ford Taurus with a female occupant trapped inside and a male subject near the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation determined the Ford Taurus was traveling westbound on Coach Rd. at a possible high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle as he approached a curve at the 800 block of Coach. 

The driver struck and damaged property in the immediate area to include a gas meter which resulted in a heavy gas leak. West Valley Fire Department arrived and was able to extract the female from the vehicle. Several residents in the area were evacuated due to the gas leak. West Valley Fire Department (WVFD) was able to cap the gas leak allowing residents to return to their homes after approximately 40 minutes, until Texas Gas Service arrived.

The passenger was transported by Life Ambulance to a local area hospital for possible head injuries and lacerations to the body and the driver refused to be medically treated. The driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the El Paso County Jail with a $5000.00 bond.

The driver was identified as Samuel Sanchez (28) and the passenger as Jasmine Romo (27). The driver and passenger were said to be leaving from a party after celebrating the driver’s birthday. Both are from Anthony, NM.
