El Paso TX- On 08-03-11 at approximately 8:23 am Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 16500 Montana Avenue in reference to an MVA/rollover with injuries. Deputies arrived and saw a pick-up truck with extensive damage, a white 2001 Ford F-250 (4 dr extended cab), partially on the median and roadway of Montana Ave. Life Ambulance was on scene. A Homeland Security unit and Border Patrol agents arrived to assist.

Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene and EPCSO-Crime Scene Technicians.  A preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling east bound on Montana when the vehicle veered off to the right. The driver lost control of the vehicle after overcorrecting twice causing the vehicle to roll over approximately four times. Out of the six occupants, four suffered non-life threatening injuries, one received serious injuries and one occupant died on scene. Two subjects were transported to University Medical Center and three to Del Sol Medical Center. Only two occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

Montana east bound lanes were closed for approximately five hours. TXDOT and County Roads & Bridges assisted with the closures. The west bound lanes were also closed and opened for travel at approximately 12:00 pm.

The driver and the front right passenger were the only occupants suspected to have  been secured by a seat belt. The occupants were identified as Javier James (47), Clinton Stout (34), Miguel Perez (39), Arturo Azcarate (51), Oscar Villanueva (39) and Francisco Pena (41). Speed and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors at this time. Francisco Pena died on the scene of the accident and next of kin was notified.  The investigation continues with pending toxicology results.
