168th District Court

  • Each of the district courts in the County has jurisdiction over criminal and civil cases. The court holds hearings in criminal cases such as arraignments, pleas and pre-trial matters, summary judgments, default judgments, and pre-trial motions. All courts hear jury trials and non-jury trials, Some courts specialize in either civil, criminal or family law while others are general and hear both civil and criminal cases.
  • The Court is presided by a State District Judge who is elected to a four-year term by the voters of El Paso County. Automation is used for scheduling tracking cases on the docket.
